FROST FESTIVAL 2018
9 - 11 of february
In the darkness of February we opened the doors of Villa Kultur to the public. For three nights only, our guests had the opportunity to singlehanded discover the villa and find 11 different installations. During the discovery of the villa we created a rare stimulation of all senses, when our guests were invited to taste, see, listen and feel the installations that were hidden around the crooked old house.
The pieces were made in a cooperation between lighting designer Maria Cramer Møller and food designer Anna Østergaard Laursen and had a backlining of audiative experiments with the support from Frost Festival.
All of our senses are effected by each other and the installations were all experiments to prove this. The guests was as participants an active part of the pieces and through sculptural staging we manipulated the sensory experience and left the participants wonder; can light and sound affect the way we taste, smell and feel? And how does this ultimately affect our view and conduct?
Several of the servings were interactive so that the guests had to help each other to pick, cut down or gather the elements of the meal before it could be consumed. This created a feeling of unity and togetherness and at the same time the edible elements gave the guests a feeling of eating the installations themselves and in that way be in direct interaction with the art by changing it.
The musical elements helped create the right atmosphere in the rooms, where musicians and sound designers will supported, enhanced and even changed the the atmosphere and thereby created an auditory connection with the lighting installations. After experiencing the exhibition, we invited the guests for a luminous drink and conversation, where they could share and digest the impressions they were left with. The guests left the villa with a sensation of having seen, tasted and felt something new and different.
